Throughout 2024, I worked as a freelance designer to help small to medium-sized businesses improve the user experience of their online platforms. This experience allowed me to work in a variety of clients in different industries and platforms.
The clients were in the food, fitness, service, and e-commerce industries. Their websites were hosted on BigCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, and Shopify.
Eartheasy is an e-commerce company that sells solutions for sustainable living, specifically home gardening supplies. The business was looking to optimize their homepage to improve their conversions.
I conducted a UX audit for the homepage of their website. The audit analyzed page elements based on accessibility and general UX best practices. I highlighted key areas for improvement and presented suggestions which were incorporated in a mockup.
This audit was presented to the COO of the company.
DZ Hair Salon is a Korean-owned hair salon based in Burnaby, BC. In addition to hair services, the business sells products online on their Shopify storefront.
I did a complete rehaul of the storefront interface to improve the user flow and consistency between product offerings. This made it easier to find products and for users to checkout.
This project involved organizing the product details and information architecture in the backend.
In addition, I also improved the appointment booking user flow and added pages to feature the new services that were offered at the salon.
Pika Pika Twinkle sells women's clothing and accessories online. The store offers products from a large array of product types and previously had a confusing navigation menu. There was also a missed opportunity to link homepage sections to other pages on the site.
I worked on organizing the information architecture to create a more intuitive menu and flow that allows users to have an easier time navigating product categories and pages.
I helped the new fitness studio create a soft opening landing page where users can learn about the new business. This was followed by a full website launch that would allow users to find workout plans, service details, and class schedules.
The websites were built on Squarespace and featured Mindbody widgets.
This Richmond-based fried chicken shop previously had an outdated website that was clunky and difficult for users to find restaurant details. This would ultimately negatively impact the brand's image. I helped the business redesign the website on Wix to be more intuitive and on-brand.
It was important to highlight key CTAs that would allow users to easily view their menu and order online. I also showcased the core values of the company and featured press articles that would boost the credibility of the business.
